 
                                Savadatti also known as Saundatti  is one of the oldest towns in Belgaum district in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is a celebrated as a pilgrimage centre located 78 kilometres from Belgaum district and 37 kilometres from Dharwad. Savadatti is also the name of the taluk (sub-district). There are several ancient temples in Saudatti.
HISTORY
Savadatti was earlier known as Sugandavarti. It was the capital of Ratta dynasty . You can see into the wall by the Ratta Chief Ankarasa in front of Western Chalukya-style Ankeshwara temple at Saundatti.
